We were delighted to receive very generous donations from two charities to support our ongoing work as we moved into the New Year.
Wokingham United Charities readily responded to our call to purchase new equipment (pictured above) for our Green ‘n’ Tidy Gardening Scheme and granted us funds to buy new lawn mowers, hedge trimmer and strimmers and set us up for the new season in grand style! Servicing more than 150 gardens on a fortnightly basis ensures our equipment is heavily utilised – and certainly keeps our volunteers fit! But this also means it needs regular maintenance and replacing about every two years. The grant awarded by Wokingham United Charities means we are able to ensure our equipment will last the course of another busy season as we look to expand our coverage too.
And the Barratt Foundation, building new homes in Wokingham under their David Wilson brand, selected us as their chosen charity to receive a donation which has been ring-fenced to kick start a new hardship fund to support clients unable to afford the cost of our membership or services. Trustees agreed to establish this fund in light of the current pressures on residents’ finances and to ensure no one need miss out on accessing the support our wonderful volunteers provide on a daily basis, all across the Borough, on cost grounds.
To both of these wonderful charities, we express our sincere thanks!
