Community Transport Scheme
The Transport Scheme helps those residents of the Wokingham & Earley areas (RG6, RG40 and RG41) who are unable to use public transport or cannot drive themselves for whatever reason. This low-cost service takes clients to medical and dental appointments, as well as social events designed to reduce the terrible effects of loneliness, around the district and beyond and is run on a membership basis, which is open to everyone.
Volunteer drivers stay with the client for the duration of their medical appointment, acting as a companion. This personal service is a lifeline for elderly and vulnerable residents, who may have no one else to depend upon. We also now provide transport for social trips such as shopping and lifts to lunch clubs, exercise classes, social groups etc. which simply require a drop-off and collection later in the day, so require very limited time commitment. Volunteer drivers decide when and how far they want to drive and expenses are reimbursed.
As this service is dependent upon volunteers we are always very keen to hear from anyone who may be able to assist with this service which is heavily in demand. The role is extremely flexible and doesn't require a regular commitment but we keep in touch with you regularly to check if and when you're available.

The Transport Desks are manned by volunteers, who help out on a rota basis.
Open: Wokingham - Monday to Friday, 09:30 to 13:30; Earley Monday / Wednesday / Friday 10:00 to 13:00.
