Community Transport Scheme
The Transport Scheme helps those residents of the Wokingham area (RG40 and RG41) who are unable to use public transport or cannot drive themselves for whatever reason. This low-cost service takes clients to medical and dental appointments around the district and beyond and is run on a membership basis, which is open to everyone.
Volunteer drivers stay with the client for the duration of their medical appointment, acting as a companion. This personal service is a lifeline for elderly and vulnerable residents, who may have no one else to depend upon. We also now provide transport for social trips such as shopping and lifts to lunch clubs, exercise classes etc. Volunteer drivers decide when and how far they want to drive and expenses are reimbursed. We are very keen to recruit new drivers, so if you are interested, please do contact us.
For more information about the Transport Scheme, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0118 978 2446. The Transport Desk is manned by volunteers, who help out on a rota basis.
Open: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 12.30pm.
