Green 'n' Tidy' provides a basic gardening service for elderly and disabled residents of Wokingham Borough who cannot maintain their own properties, do not have local family support or lack the financial resources to employ commercial companies (on pension credit or PIP.)  This project does not compete with established gardening businesses and their team of volunteers will provide basic gardening, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming and weeding, to vulnerable people in need.

Please contact us on 0118 979 1340 or email us at gardening@wok-vol.org.uk if you feel you or someone you know would benefit from the scheme and we can discuss if you qualify for our scheme.

The Transport Scheme helps those residents of the Wokingham area (RG40 and RG41) who are unable to use public transport or cannot drive themselves for whatever reason. This low-cost service takes clients to medical and dental appointments around the district and beyond.

Volunteer drivers stay with the client for the duration of their medical appointment, acting as a companion. This personal service is a lifeline for elderly and vulnerable residents, who may have no one else to depend upon. We also now provide transport for social trips such as shopping and lifts to lunch clubs, exercise classes etc. Volunteer drivers decide when and how far they want to drive and expenses are reimbursed. We are very keen to recruit new drivers, so if you are interested, please do contact us.

For more information about the Transport Scheme, please call 0118 978 2446. Phones are manned by volunteers, who help out on a rota basis.

Open: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 12.30pm.

The Volunteer Brokerage scheme provides support to those who live in and around Wokingham Borough to find the right rolefor them. We work with community, voluntary and charitable groups across the borough to help them recruit volunteers.

Our volunteering portal www.volunteerwokinghamborough.org.uk lists all of our current opportunities. We can also provide a one to one matching service for those who need extra advice or help on volunteering. This can be via email, Facebook, phone or face-to-face appointments. Please do call us first if you wish to visit the office to arrange a suitable time. We also promote the benefits and wellbeing that volunteering brings, by attending events and talking at local groups and schools.

We are pleased to be working in partnership with The Link Visiting Scheme, Age UK Berkshire and Involve in an exciting new project to promote friendship and reduce the impact of loneliness and isolation in older people - we’re calling it the Friendship Alliance.

We want to do all we can to make Wokingham a friendlier place to live and tackle the serious issue of loneliness and isolation especially in older people. The Friendship Alliance is a newly created group of organisations working together to improve the lives of older people in Wokingham Borough.
