The Wokingham Volunteer Centre
Welcome to The Wokingham Volunteer Centre. We are a registered charity that works with and places volunteers in a wide range of community, voluntary and charitable groups across the borough. We work with, and support, groups and organisations that require volunteers (including providing training). We promote the benefits of volunteering to the local community and run a number of schemes including the Wokingham Transport Scheme and the Green'n' Tidy community gardening service.

Green 'n' Tidy' provides a basic gardening service for elderly and disabled residents of Wokingham Borough who cannot maintain their own properties, do not have local family support or lack the financial resources to employ commercial companies (on pension credit or PIP.) This project does not compete with established gardening businesses and their team of volunteers will provide basic gardening, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming and weeding, to vulnerable people in need.
Please contact us on 0118 979 1340 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you feel you or someone you know would benefit from the scheme and we can discuss if you qualify for our scheme.
The Transport Scheme helps those residents of the Wokingham area (RG40 and RG41) who are unable to use public transport or cannot drive themselves for whatever reason. This low-cost service takes clients to medical and dental appointments around the district and beyond.
Volunteer drivers stay with the client for the duration of their appointment, acting as a companion. This personal service is a lifeline for elderly and vulnerable residents, who may have no one else to depend upon. Volunteer drivers decide when and how far they want to drive and expenses are reimbursed. We are very keen to recuit new drivers, so if you are interested, please do contact us.
For more information about the Transport Scheme, please call 0118 978 2446. Phones are manned by volunteers, who help out on a rota basis.
Open: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 12.30pm.
