Our last Volunteer Recruitment Fair took place on Saturday 31st January and it was a huge success! We had 16 charities there on the day and over 180 people came through the door, keen to find out more about volunteering!
ABC to Read, one of the charities who had a stand at the event, had this to say “Any opportunity to talk to people about what we do is really valued but to also speak to so many potential volunteers is just incredible. These events are a huge part of our volunteer recruitment figures and make a substantial difference to our ability to help struggling readers in our community. Keep doing what you are doing! This event is one of the highlights of my year, it’s just so uplifting to see that there are so many people looking to volunteer and to see the variety of charities we have doing such amazing things for people in their community. Thank you for all of your hard work putting on these events.”
One of the volunteers who attended said – “I really wasn’t expecting the variety of charities and the choice of roles. It is going to be very tricky to decide but it’s a great problem to have!” All the charities had potential volunteers sign up at the Fair and one charity has had 12 new volunteers start with them as a result of the Fair, which is more than ever before.
