After months of planning, recruiting and training we are delighted to say that the Community Transport Scheme for residents of Earley is once again up and running.
After being approached by the Trustees of the former Earley Volunteer Driver Bureau we have worked closely with the them, their office volunteers and drivers to build back the scheme and sign up former members who valued the service so highly prior to it being forced into closure by the pandemic.
As of 26 May the service has once again been open for bookings from members and the first drives have taken place. The service provides support for older residents unable to use public transport who need to attend medical and similar appointments at their doctor’s surgery, dentist or hospital and we are also able to provide transport to social events and activities including shopping, lunch clubs and the like.
