The Centre originally grew out a desire to recruit more volunteers to help deliver Meals on Wheels and a grant of £250 was made by Berkshire County Council Social Services to set up a pilot scheme for a few months. Very quickly, more needs were identified and services developed to include befriending and helping people with their gardens – all of which are still to this day central to helping people remain living at home happily for longer!
