Summer Volunteer Fair line up announced

Volunteer Recruitment Fair Wednesday July 6th 2022 at the Charity & Community Hub

Following the success of the Spring Recruitment Fair we shall once again be hosting an event at the Wokingham Charity & Community Hub based in Waterford House at Erftstadt Court, Denmark Street in Wokingham Town Centre. The facility brings together many organisations under one roof to provide high-quality support, information and advice to people who need it.

These charities rely on their amazing volunteers to help deliver this support and without them, they could not continue. To help these organisations to find more volunteers, the Wokingham Volunteer Centre will be hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Fair on Wednesday 6th July at the hub from 11am-2pm. The event will be free to the general public and no booking is required, please just drop in!

Volunteering can help you gain new skills, meet new people, test the water for a career change, allow you to give something back and help a cause you really believe in. Volunteering can be very flexible and fit around other commitments. Some roles are regular, others more ad hoc – there really is something for everyone!

The organisations attending include;

  • Cianna’s Smile (supporting families affected by Sickle Cell Anaemia);
  • Citizens Advice Wokingham (providing independent support and advice to those who need it);
  • CLASP (a user-led learning disability charity);
  • Cranstoun (supporting those living with domestic abuse and supporting those living with drug and alcohol issues);
  • Green ‘n’ Tidy Gardening Scheme (providing volunteer gardeners for those who are elderly and vulnerable);
  • Healthwatch Wokingham Borough (supporting those using the health and social care servies);
  • Homestart (providing friendly, non-judgemental support to families);
  • Link Visiting scheme (providing befrienders for elderly people who have become isolated);
  • Me2Club (supporting children and young people with additional needs to take part in mainstream leisure activities);
  • Wokingham & Earley Transport Scheme (providing volunteers for transport for medical appointments);
